Who we are

What our callers are saying

We’ve had about 40,000 conversations. 95% of callers felt heard and understood.

“I sang to the person on the phone, and I had never sang in front of people before. It was this beautiful moment where I needed to share a part of myself.”
“Hearing someone reflect back to me that I was okay and help me process what was coming up was really helpful.”
“It felt like a little beacon checking in from the real world.”
“If it wasn’t for Fireside, there would have been no one for me to talk to.”
“Knowing it was there mattered most to me.”
“I never thought I would need to call.”

What happens when you call?

We meet you where you are. No script, no agenda.

A trained peer answers.A real, trained person picks up. No AI. No phone tree.
You set the pace.Share as much or as little as you want. We follow your lead.
We listen. We don’t try to “fix” or give you answers.

Caller

I think I took too much. My heart is racing and I’m a little scared.

Fireside peer

I’m right here with you. You’re safe. Let’s take one slow breath together.

Caller

Okay… that helped a little.

Fireside peer

There’s no rush. Tell me as much or as little as you’d like. I’m not going anywhere.

Caller

I don’t even really know why I called. I feel kind of embarrassed.

Fireside peer

There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. People call us for exactly this. Reaching out was a good move.

Caller

It’s just, the room keeps shifting and my thoughts are moving so fast I can’t tell what’s real.

Fireside peer

That sounds like a lot to hold. You don’t have to make sense of any of it right now. I’ll stay with you while it moves.

Caller

Can you just keep talking to me? Your voice is helping.

Fireside peer

Of course. I’m not going anywhere. Is there anything near you that feels soft or solid? Sometimes it helps to rest a hand on something real.

Caller

There’s a blanket next to me. And my dog is here.

Fireside peer

That’s a good place to be. Put your hand on the blanket if you want to. Feel your dog breathing next to you. You’re not alone in this.

Caller

The racing is slowing down a little. I think I’m going to be okay.

What is Fireside Project?

Support for journeyers.
Training for practitioners.

Fireside Project began as a support line. Five years and 40,000 conversations later, it has grown into an interconnected network of care: a one-year apprenticeship for aspiring practitioners, a coaching program for long-term scheduled support, a practitioner training and assessment platform called Lucy, and a cutting-edge research program.

From Fireside’s founder

Welcome to the Fireside…

4:58

Before Fireside existed, too many people had nowhere to turn during psychedelic experiences.

What they needed was simple: someone grounded, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. Someone who understood the terrain because they had walked it themselves.

That’s why we created the Psychedelic Support Line: a free, confidential network of trained volunteers who know how to sit with people in the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

At Fireside, we believe service is the highest form of integration. That belief has grown into an ecosystem of care mapped out below.

When people asked for longer-term support, we created Fireside-Certified Coaching, now used in over 1,200 sessions, including by patients receiving ketamine treatment at Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospital.

When the field needed better ways to train practitioners, we built Lucy, our AI-powered simulation and assessment platform. Today, Mount Sinai uses Lucy to help clinicians practice MDMA-assisted therapy before they sit with real clients.

Our five-year report, entitled “Five Years of Light”, shows the impact that our services have delivered for the psychedelic field.

However you arrived here, welcome. Join us by the Fireside.
