My Story
The moment I knew I wanted to devote my life to providing emotional support was when a long-time client told me, “I don’t know whether I’ve been given a gift, or whether it’s been there all along, but I feel like I’ve unwrapped it.”
That reflection, for me, is the essence of this work, and why I love it so much.
For me, coaching is about helping my clients unwrap their own gifts.
I see coaching as a practice of radical with-ness, of being, as Ram Dass said, a loving rock. It’s about creating a safe, non-judgmental container that empowers you to connect to their own truth and find their own answers.
From that foundation, I’ve found that clients feel free to turn towards whatever is arising for them, explore its meaning, and ultimately, apply whatever they have learned to further them on their unique life path.
At the time my client told me about unwrapping his gift, I was volunteering as a counselor on a support line. By day, I was a practicing lawyer, working for the City of San Francisco suing businesses exploiting vulnerable communities and co-teaching a clinic at Yale Law School.
Since then, I transitioned out of my legal career and founded Fireside Project, which operates the Psychedelic Support Line, and now to launch Fireside-Certified ™ Psychedelic Coach.
